Green juices: health in a glass
Have you heard of the concept "health in a glass"? Vegetable and fruit juices are always a healthy option to drink in the morning, afternoon and evening, although there are some differences between the two.
Vegetable juices are preferred because they are more complete and contain more nutrients, while fruit juices contain a lot of sugar due to the fructose in them.
For a good balance between taste and nutritional value, choose one fruit and two to three vegetables.
Steps to follow for a green juice:
1.Wash all the vegetables well and cut them into pieces. Since you are going to put them in a blender or juicer, they should be small.
2. Do not save them or leave them for later. Juices with vegetables or fruit should be drunk after they are made, as they can lose nutrients and vitamins over several hours.
3. Is it to go? Right, so put them in a glass bottle. This is ideal for preserving such a juice.
Although there is no right recipe for making a green juice, the ingredients are usually almost always the same. Some people even add fruit (such as kiwi or banana) to make it taste slightly sweeter.
One important note: green juices do not contain protein or essential fats, so these drinks should not be used as a meal replacement. They should rather be a complement to your daily diet.
Ingredients to make a green juice:
- Spinach
- Spirulina (1/3 teaspoon)
- Cucumber
- Ginger to taste
- Squeezed lemon
- Apple
Put everything in the blender and it's ready in just a few minutes. If you notice that the colour turns slightly dark, don't worry, this is because the apple oxidises. Add some ice cubes.
